First of all, I know that this isn't the place for "what laptop should I buy" threads, but I have a few questions that I think owners might have an easier time answering. I was looking for a portable laptop that could also handle gaming, and I think the VAIO CW, which has been updated, is right for me. However, what I am most concerned about is the 310M graphics card that has been introduced. I was planning on getting it with the 230M, but it is no longer an option. For anyone with experience/knowledge how does the 310M fare? Cause I was ok with the 230M, but the 210M didn't seem good enough for me. In addition, battery life is a big concern as well, because I will be taking the laptop to classes and stuff. I plan on buying the extended battery as a backup, but again, if anyone has experience, how is it?

    Here are my important specs.:

    Intel® Core™ i5-540M processor (2.53GHz) with Turbo Boost up to 3.06GHz
    Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64-bit
    640GB Hard Disk Drive (5400rpm)
    6GB (4GBx1 + 2GBx1) DDR3-SDRAM-1066
    NVIDIA® GeForce® 310M GPU with 256MB DDRD3 dedicated VRAM

Overall, I am looking for a laptop that:
    a) can play games on medium-high settings
    b) has a good enough battery life that I can take it around in college
    c) isn't too big

This will be a merge between my gaming/portable laptop. If it isn't powerful enough, I'll just half to buy a gaming laptop, and then buy a netbook.

You can get a CW with GT 330M on the sony business site,it cost cheaper i think o.o with 1600 X 900 screen resolution, or you can wait for the E series coming on the 17th,it has ATI HD 5650 which features direct x 11

The updated CW isn't owned by anyone yet I think.

The 310m specs make it only a very marginal improvement over the 210m. So basically the 310m won't be good enough for your requirements. The 330m specs on the other hand suggest it will perform slightly better than the 240m, so you'd certainly be ok with that option.

Whatever option you go for, it will provide you the same amount of battery life when you don't need graphical power, as you can then switch to the integrated GPU of the Core i5.

Wild05kid05, where did you hear about the E series? Could you provide some more information?
