I've gone through a chain of Sony A series WUXGA models over the past few years; buying cheap via refurbs then selling to get a more powerful model.

However, I haven't seen a WUXGA A series refurb on the Sony site for months, and you cannot configure an A600 with a WUXGA screen. Once you try to place it in your cart you get a 'Not Available' pop up. So my upgrade path is stymied unless I use eBay and go for an A790.

Does anyoneone know if this is official? Has Sony stopped producing the best laptop screen available?

The BX cannot be ordered with anything other than a WXGA. Sony say the high res screen is available, but not to anyone who wants to buy one.

I'm filling in with an Asus W2V, and Dell and Sager have WUXGA with appropriate power, but I'd like to know for sure.

    Cheers

Sony is still producing WUXGA, so don't worry about that. Because the newer A790 series is coming on-line, I suspect that Sony has stopped stocking components for A600 and you may not get every possible configuration with A600. As for waiting for refurb., well, you always have to wait for the right specs. Maybe there aren't that many A600 with WUXGA floating around or maybe they are just too good that people don't want to part with them. Who knows.
