Is the new Z going to have the 2nd HDD/No Optical option like the TZ/TT?

I'm an old TR and now a TZ owner, and my TZ is awesome in the fact that it could be spec'd with a 2nd HDD, replacing the DVD drive (which i used once in a blue moon, and have an external for that)
I have the 64GB SSD and now a 500GB HDD, so it's perfect, fast SSD for the OS and shed-loads of space for all my photos and films n stuff.

So since i now want to upgrade to something with more power, and the new Z looking so awesome(!), I'm hoping they'll offer the same 2nd HDD option.

I really can't express how useful and sensible this option is (especially for my usage)

    Finger's crossed.

Most probably (99%) it'll not have this option.

Very little reason to do it since it already has a DVD/Blu-Ray drive and SSD configuration. Swapping out would not be very important to me. The new Z will have pretty much all I am looking for, except it's ability to run mac osx, but I have a MBP for that. Hats off to Sony though; the new Z is still tempting even to a Mac person like me.

Such an option would interest me as well. Or better yet, the option to replace the optical drive with a second battery.

It's true that many/most users will use the optical drive lots and won't need masses of disk space...

But, me and lots of others do need the disk space and don't really use the optical much.
So being able to spec my TZ with the two HDDs and to just buy an external DVD writer, which works well as it's usb bus powered, is awesome.

Let's hope they do decide to give us the option. They know how to do it already.

And i wonder if they will add a 4th usb socket like they add the 3rd it the TZ.
Or perhaps they could add the missing USB3 socket! ;-)

    So good news...
If we're interpreting this correctly, then they're at least making the subchassis to hold a 2.5" instead of the optical drive... Let's hope they offer the option to us not in Malaysia...
But if the parts are being made, maybe they can be sourced somehow...
    Fingers crossed...

The option for a 2.5" HDD instead of the optical is also available in the Netherlands, and probably will also become available in other EU countries.

    Good news...
Is it in the form of an HDD instead of the optical AND SSD? Or as a 2nd HDD option that we're hoping for?

Unfortunately it is only available in the form of a hdd instead of optical and ssd.

Perhaps they'll show up in other markets... Hopefully in Japan so that Conics.net might allow the options...
