Hello guys, I have got a sony vaio Z237 with 900p LCD(not mine, just use a few days), the color and brightness are amazing but the viewing angle is very poor, even worst than DELL E6400 with a LG panel. (see the compare below)

You could see that E6400 LCD has a uniform brightness but the Z2 LCD was divided into a bright and a dark part due to the poor viewing angle.
Could someone tell me if Z2 FHD panel act as worst as the 900p, or has a better viewing angle? (at least not show out a bright/dark dividing line just as the photo says)
If FHD panel has an acceptable viewing angle, it's good for me to buy a new Z13115 FHD.

My Z2 1080p viewing angle is quite bad, but I love the color. I read somewhere before the 900p is brighter than the 1080p screen.

You are not comparing the two at the same vertical viewing angle. In general, the Z has a much better horizontal viewing angle than its vertical viewing angle. The vertical viewing angle particular hurts when you view from below the screen like in the picture.
Other monitors may have worse horizontal viewing angle than Z, but better vertical viewing angle than Z. -
My point is not to discuss which one has a better viewing angle, as we all know that TN panel would not be good at it in any condition.
I'm interesting at if the viewing angle is good enough to make sure that different parts of the screen could have a uniform brightness when you watch it in any angle.
Unfortunatly when you watch Z2's 900p LCD even in the 90' vertical angle, the brightness from the upper and lower parts are not same. This is no better than the worst TN panel I have ever see. -
lovelaptops MY FRIENDS CALL ME JEFF!
I have both side by side and I can tell you that the FHD has significantly better horizontal angles than the 900p but approximately the same vertical angles.
Personally, I just don't find the viewing angle limitations problematic in actual use. I pretty much know the vertical range of play for a stable image and go right to it amd the horizontal angles, particularly on the FHD, are wide enough that I find no practical impacts at all. I would certainly rather the screen be IPS-like, but frankly it's the computer that's attached to the screen that makes the alternatives, such as Asus UX31A and Samsung S900X3B/C just not very attractive despite having better screens - in terms of viewing angles, brightness and contrast (FHD screen only; the 900p screen has awesome contrast, over 1000), keyboards and touchpads. The Asus has superb color gamut, equal to the Sony 900p (near 100% of sRGB, about 60% Adobe RGB) and though the Sony 1080p has significantly wider color gamut, I don't find that noticeable in any everyday usage, because I am not a professional photo editor.
Still, the Z is no longer the only choice of reasonably powerful ultraportables/ultrabooks which means it has to earn its keep in other ways to justify both its price and to offset the disadvantages of the TN screen.
EDIT: Just noticed OP is considering purchase of a Z13, not Z2. At that level and price point, we're back to the Z being the overwhelming favorite vs. all competition, particularly with the FHD screen. The Z1 also has a far better keyboard (even the backlighting is far better than the Z2 and SVZ13), better sound (though still bad, it's at least usable, which the Z2/SVZ are not), many more ports, including ExpressCard, which enables a USB3 via a $15 card and becomes the FOURTH USB port on this 3 lb unit. You can change the memory to your heart's content, put an SSD or HDD in the DVD bay, replace and carry extra batteries (though that's just to get somewhere near the awesome battery life of the Z2 + sheet battery, ....etc.
I keep switching between my Z13 and Z22 and, honestly, after I've been using one for a while and switch to the other, what I notice most is the ways in which the one I've switched to is better regardless of which way the switch went. If I could truly make up my mind I would sell one, but for now owning both is a great luxury. Since Z1s are routinely available for sale on eBay at prices under $1,000 - good ones even for a little as $800! - and the Z2 is often available for a couple hundred more for its base version (i5, 4GB, 128GB, 900p screen - no slouch of a machine at that) and for $1,200 - $1,500 for a new/open box/lightly used, it's hard to go wrong with either. Also, even the Z1 - especially with i7, 8GB, 256-512GB, 1080p, cellular broadband - is easy to sell if you find you regret your choice.
Sorry, as many on this forum know, get me started on the virtues/negatives of the Sony Z and there's no telling when I'll stop. -
THX lovelaptops, your compare is very useful to me, Now I think it's time for me to get a FHD Z2. When I got it, I'll update the screen photo.
Is the vaio Z2 1080p panel has a poor viewing angle as the 900p panel?
