    Do you mean like a car 12 V battery?

    If so, you can use an inverter to get 120 V AC, and plug in the standard 19 V power adapter into that.

    Yes, use an inverter and plug your ac adapter is safer way.
    Do not get any direct converter from 12V lighter to your laptop.
    I say this since knew somebody had blown the fuse or even damage to power regulator board on laptop motherboard.

    I bought the Targus APM69US, ( Laptop Chargers|APM69US| by Targus) which comes with a cig lighter adapter to run the power supply. I got this brand new, half price from ebay.
