Is there a new Sony Vaio CS Series 14.1" coming out soon?

I went to PC World (UK) today to have a look at the Sony Vaio as I am really keen on the CS Series (with Blu-ray). I loved the look of it but they had just one left - so I asked a sales assistant why there are no more left and he told me that Sony are bringing out a new line of Vaios. Is this correct?

I don't want to be spending around £900 if there is a new one coming out soon. Does anyone know anything about this and are there any reviews around as I can't find anything on the likes of CNET etc...

Would really appreciate if someone could advise me on this

p.s. Is this a good choice of laptop? I've never had a Vaio before.

I don't trust anything what PC World tell me as they told me some incorrect information before.

If Sony do update the CS line then it might be a minor bump like a CPU or an increase in HD capacity. The next Intel CPU's i believe are not due until the latter part of this year. A good refresh that Sony could do is to add a HDMI to the CS models.

.The latter SR models with dedicated graphics do come with an HDMI port. The HDMI would allow you to directly connect an lcd tv to your notebook.

I know that some members have been having some dreadful problems with the CS and noise problems. Have a look at this thread. If you buy old stock it is possible that you might well encounter these problems as well.

Yeah I know what you mean with PC World - the salesperson was very unprofessional and when I asked for the full specs of the laptop he printed them out and they never matched what was being displayed. So I questioned him if it's 4Gb (as displayed) or 3Gb as mentioned in the full spec and he said the display was wrong - surely that is false advertising and he did not seem bothered at all.

So you wouldn't recommend the CS Series? Dammit... I really don't know what to do. I was going to get a macbook till I decided that I can get much better specs with a different brand for cheaper so I looked at Vaio and thought the CS looked excellent. If not Vaio, then what would you recommend?

I was reading on the Sony ClubVaio forums about the CS fan issue. I feel really sorry for the people who own one and how they have been mis-treated by Sony. Here's the forum discussion.

I think I'm going to hold for a couple of weeks - you never know the PC World salesperson may be right with a refresh in the CS series. It would make sense that if there are these fan problems (across all CS laptops) then perhaps instead of helping the current owners and turning a blind eye, they instead bring out a refresh that solves this issue to all new buyers.

Just noticed that the Sony CS Series model that I'm looking at is the VGN CS 25X (with Blu-ray). Does anyone know if this one has the fan problems? The forum link I provided in my last reply discusses the CS11.

Sorry - I really love the look of the CS and desperately in need of a new laptop, just don't want to make any mistakes though and definitely don't want to risk any fan problems.
