Is there such a thing as a grounded VAIO adapter?

I'm starting to think that the sound issue I have is caused by the ungrounded adapter. I know that when I had a MacBook Pro and used the ungrounded adapter, the whole computer had a current running through it and it would vibrate. When I had the grounded cord plugged in, this vibration problem went away.

When I run my VAIO CA with the ungrounded 2-prong adapter, I get clicking/crackling with much of the sound. When I run it on battery, this sound issue goes away.

Is there any grounded adapter that will work with the Sony? Do you think this adapter would work? http://www.amazon.com/Adapter-Charg...E6H8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1314730026&sr=8-2

I'm not sure if what I'm saying will even work. I don't know much about electricity, but I know that this problem is caused by the power source and the one in the link is the same voltage and same amps.

have you tried different outlets? Also have you tried the same outlet and unplugged all your peripherals?

I have. I've tried everything. I've tried this computer in 5 different counties of California this past week. Same problem everywhere. Doesn't matter if the outlet is grounded or if there's a surge protector, etc. Same problem.

The only thing that works is running the computer on battery.

strange, seems like an internal problem. I don't know if your case has any metal on it, but have you tried manually grounding it by just taking a wire holding it on a benign metal part of the laptop and then fixing the other end to a ground source?

The issue most likely is related to DPC latency spikes. It might be caused by your GPU/ Wifi adapter. Try different drivers.

But then why does the use of the battery solve the problem? I thought maybe it was because it switched to Intel HD Graphics while on the battery, but using the Intel HD Graphics while the adapter attaches still yields the problem.

Either way, I decided to go ahead and order the adapter in question. If it makes a difference, I'll make note of it here.

Pretty stupid issue, since I'm not the only who has it. Sony is not impressing me much...

I've had a similar problem to this. For me, my power adapter was also getting quite hot. When I plugged in my headphones using the adapter, I got a high pitch sound, kinda like a constant ringing noise, but on battery it went away. I had warranty so I called and they sent me a new power adapter and the problem went away. It might have been a grounding issue, maybe capacitor in the adapter went bad, but the new adapter has been working fine. Hope your new adapter works.

Instead of buying a whole new power adapter, why don't you try buying just the cord that goes from the wall to the power brick?
