    Hi all,

    After reading this forum carefully for the past couple weeks, I've decided to get the Sony VAIO SR. The combination of looks, features, and quality make it seem the best deal. The only things it's missing for me are HDMI and eSata ports, but I can easily live without them. My biggest concerns are heat and battery life, so if you have suggestions for helping with those, I'd appreciate.

    Anyway, I've put together a config on SonyStyle.com. Can you tell me if I'm missing anything, or if there's a better deal out there somewhere? Thanks! (Using this for websurfing and movies, the most gaming it'll see is a heart stopping round of online Monopoly)

    VGN-SR190 Configure-to-Order

    * 3 GB DDR2-SDRAM (DDR2-800, 2GBx1 + 1GBx1) [Regular price $100]

    With the $200 coupon and campus package, it comes to $1,200, plus I'm applying for the Sony Card which would give me another $100 off for a grand total of $1100 (plus tax).

    Thoughts? Thanks in advance!!

    Check NewEgg and PCConnection for cheaper prices on RAM and the hard drive. Otherwise, looks like a good well-rounded setup for non-gamers.

    Thanks, I did take a look. It's still on the 50% off promotion, so the extra 2gb RAM was only $50, and the cheapest I could find online was $40 incl shipping. And $50 for the hard drive seemed like a decent price for an extra 130gb, but I'll do some research to look for better deals.

    i think it's a pretty good price! I got a similar setup with 2 year accidental damage, and the ATI 3470 for 1450, which included the laser mouse and smart protection case as part of the campus pack...

    nice price. as for the heat and battery life: i find that the sr runs very cool when doing all tasks. heck, even for me when i game i find it doesnt get that hot considering the size of the laptop. and as for the battery life, it lasts pretty long for me (~3hours or so) and i have the dedicated gpu, so for your integrated gpu you should easily get at least 3 1/2 hours if in not mistaken :)

    I ordered it! :) ended up dropping the larger hard drive and changing the warranty to the two year with ADH. Grand total including tax was $1281, and I got the Sony Visa card so I should get a $100 credit. Just under $1200 for a very nice laptop, I'm happy.

    Now I just need to make it through the next two weeks until it gets here!
