When I use my SZ160 on battery power (which is almost all the time) the fan blows constantly, even when just web surfing or checking email. Does your SZ do the same?

    yes, mine too.
the fan of my sz3xp is always on, since i start using the computer, no matter if it is connected to power or in battery mode, and also when it is in stamina mode.

i don't know how to solve this

My SZ160's fan is not always running when on battery power. Do yu ahve power setting on "adaptive" in Vaio Power Management? I do.

Where might we get a new standard battery?

    Good luck....Mike

Go to the Vaio Power Management Viewer and then hit the "Advanced" tab. At CPU System Control I have mine set at "Adaptive" under both running on battery and plugged in. I have CPU fan control set at level 1 (quiet) while running on battery....and level 5 (performance) while plugged in. This seems to work well for me.

mine sometimes go on. or at least i sometimes hear it go on. there are times when i know it goes on--- air comes out of the vent

i believe it'll go on if your cpu reaches a certain temp. i think 44c. maybe that's why your go on often and stay on.

    I have SZ660..

I'm updated to latest BIOS a few days ago.. (R0101S5) Then I'm noticed fan always on for any cpu load or temp.. Then downgrade to R0082S5... and now, fan go on when cpu reaches to 44c...
