I pretty much decided to buy a Japanese Vaio Z VGN-Z92 (I live in Japan).
This will be my third Vaio btw.
main question:
Before I buy it, I just wanted to know if anyone has tried successfully (or unsuccessfully?) to convert a Vaio Z92 from Japanese to English, including on-screen display for sound and brightness, all Vaio drivers (especially for the hybrid dual grafics-card system, speed/stamina switch), sound-drivers and keyboard?
I was thinking about a fresh base install of Vista, then install the drivers etc.
I have some experience of converting previous Vaio models with mixed success, and know that "just install Vista" is probably not enough to get full functionality including a working Speed/Stamina switch etc; I would very much like to know if specifically the Z92 can be converted successfully?
minor questions:
Do I need Vista Ultimate?
Is a downgrade to XP possible/advisable (given that I'd prefer to have XP?)
Thank you very much for all constructive input, tips which drivers to use etc. Thanks!

Hi there,
I am using Z92JS. Don't have any particular problems so far. The only thing bugs me is resuming windows seem to be to long. Maybe there is something wrong with my installation of Windows 7.
Let me know how you are going with your Z92.

You know you're answering in more than half a year old thread, right?
Did you do clean install of Win7? How much RAM do you have? From my experience - resuming in Windows 7 takes much shorter time than in Vista. -
Yeah, I know that this thread is way too old. Just hope someone might be interested.
I was doing a fresh install. My vaio has 8G ram.
I think I haven't found the right graphic driver. Do you know any equivalent as the Z92 I am using in other countries where I can download the drivers.
Thanks

Except the for the WWAN, you can use drivers from any refresh of VGN-Z. I'm on Japanese Z 1st gen, but I'm using drivers from the last refresh of US Z
Jap -> En: Vaio Z VGN-Z92YS/DS/JS
