I guess the Amercian SZ160 doesn't have the same style carbon fiber casing?

Where can I buy the SZ90?

I can't read Japanese, but I was on the Japanese Sony site, and there are alot more customizations, and the prices seem more reasonable.

Is this model going to be seen outside of Japan?

Is it the same spec, just a different case?

i think the casing is the same as the american 160...the top pic just has different lighting, which makes it appear different from the sz160...the lower pics look exactly like the sz160

    Hello.
I would like to answer the difference between SZ90s and SZ160.

About casing, I have just seen US version of SZ by pictures, so I cannot be 100% sure but I believe that this case is different from SZ160.
Japanese SZ series has two types of premium version.
SZ90s is using "Premium carbon case" which is different from just carbon casing.
As picture shows, we can see the carbon fibrous line. Japanse review says this case is more smooth than normal carbon case and beautiful design.
But some japanese says that it is easy to remain fingure prints.
And if it gets scratch, they can see easiry.
This is casing is similar to Vaio note X505 Extreme which sony sold couple of years ago. (I am not sure they sold in foreign countries.)

About spec, these are basically same. Japanese version just have "Felica port" which is for scanning credit card or train ticket.
And if SZ160 can dedicate 256MB of memory for VRAM, it makes a difference.
Japanese version of SZ series only can use 128MB of ram for graphic card.

I think that is all diffrences. As some people in this forum says that the keyboard feel like cheap, japanese reviewers also say the same thing. This is not just for foreign countries.

    Hopefully, it helps.

I'm wondering if it's possible to import only the top lid from Japan? and change them to US Spec SZ160? Do you know if you can order Sony Parts in Japan?

Ah, we always want what we can't have. Of course if the cases had been reversed everyone would be complaining about the pre-scratched up look and trying to get the smooth one from Japan! :)

i prefer non premium edition now, because I've seen sz160 and it's too thin, looks fragile to me
