Yes, common problem. Sonys drivers for the Jog-Dial and Function keys are not publicy available for most machines. There are a couple of issues:

    1. You'll need access to a rescue disk or another R505 to pull the drivers.
    2. There are certain DLL files that need to be installed before hand, and they must be installed in a certain order.

Honestly, it may not be worth the headache. I have an XG500 that I reimaged before realizing I needed the drivers and DLL. Even once I found them, I never got everything installed correctly. You can probably find a shareware or freeware app to make up for the function keys. If you go with an external mouse, that takes care of the basic Jog-Dial functionality, although to use it to open apps is handy.

    Hi Big Calhoun,

    Thanks for the Update.
    Sorry to bother you again...!!
I did try to use the driver from the Recovery disk (Japanese one), it still didn't work. Honestly, the important think for me is make the Fn key is able to use again not the Jog dial I still can Use the Mouse like You said. Because without Fn key I can't change the contrast of the Screen :-((.
Do you have a good link to website that I can download a good driver
My series is R505/abw (Japanese model) or the software to make the Fn keys work.... Which R505 series (English one) that I can use the driver...???

    Thanks in Advance,
    Nyoman

Have you checked the Sony support website? If you can get to it they have a lot of drivers free for download. I had the same problem when I upgraded my Z505 to WinXP. You'll have to do a search by Model #, but Big Calhoun is right. It can be a pain.

    Hope this info is useful...

Is it just me or is my sony possessed by Satan?
