I'm gonna get the SZ160 from the local sony style today.
I was considering the vaio tx770 and the lenovo t60p.
If theres something bad i should know about the SZ160 can someone point it out before i waste my $.

Waste? I wouldn't say waste though I didn't like the feel of the keyboard compared to their previous S series models. Others here have talked about the bloatware as well as inflated battery life. Of course when you buy a Sony you're paying a brandname premium as well. But it's a sweet machine, small compact, good screen and a dedicated GPU.

I woulda bought the T60p if it had transflective (glossy) a screen...For some reason i prefer the glossy screen anyone has this preference too?
Anyone who has the T60p can give me any feedback on how the SZ160 screen compares to the T60p which one has more vivid colors?

Same here - the single biggest reason I didn't get another ThinkPad was their dull, washed out screens. My partner here in the office has had VAIO's for the last couple of years, and always rubs it in my face how much nicer his screen was. Well, I have an SZ160 now, and he doesn't laugh much anymore... ;)

Well the model youre getting is a higher model than the 120.
It has: 256mb gfx memory vs 128mb, a bit thinner and lighter, cabron fiber parts.

Supposedly: Better battery life due to LED for screen backlight, brighter screen.

And about $500 more for that.

starstreak, you're wrong, both models have the same GPU memory.

Ok I keep jumping back and forth between the SZ and Asus w3j. I believe the Asus is a better all around machine but My tipping points come down to battery life and quality of screen as far as viewing it in daylight. If the SZ is much better in these areas ( I think it wins in battery life) I can live with bloatware and a subpar keyboard. Any thoughts would be helpfull especially on the screen issue.

There have been several threads discussing the overly optimistic battery life of the SZ series. AFAIK, the W3j will last a bit more and I think it has a 2nd battery option which could bring your cordless experience up to 7+hrs.

They key part of the quote here is "AFAIK".

Remember, no-one knows the real battery life of the W3j. People said all sorts of things about the SZ, and the ASUS is just as susceptible to battery life claims.

As for the media bay battery, the SZ has an extended battery that can be used with the CD-ROM if necessary. People just have to decide if they want to shut down the machine for a minute to switch batteries, and keep the CD-ROM.

That said, I've looked at the W3j and I think its a nice machine, but we shouldn't assume anything until we know. We've learned from the SZ that pre-release data means nothing :)
