Hi, everyone just bought a refurb SZ260 with a 6month warranty and I must say how awesome this laptop is. I would have gotten the Sz360 but my funds were kinda short so this is the next best thing. I was wondering if its possible to upgrade the CPU later and how hard would it be to do. Also what kind of battery life is everyone getting with this puppy?

where did you buy it and how much ?

Not too sure of the forum rules so I'll pm you the info.

As long as deals aren't illegal, there isn't any trouble in posting that info online...we certainly don't mind.
Anyway, it would be difficult to upgrade the CPU since it is definitely deep in there. Question: what CPU does the machine have right now? If it is a Core 2 CPU like I think you do you probably will have more than enough CPU power for a long time. I wouldn't worry about upgrading it. -
its a 1.8 core duo and I was thinking of a 2.0 or higher c2d.

Yes it is possible but I think that you will find that the real-world difference between a 1.8 Core Duo and a 2.0 Core 2 Duo is minor at best. A 2.66 C2D would probably be a much more noticeable difference - but of course a C2D 2.66 runs about $600 -
Less than 5 screws on the back have to be opened to see the cpu.
It is pretty easy with the SZ to change the CPU. -
I wasnt planning on upgrading right away. I was planning on using it this way for a while and when I decide to upgrade to vista I might probly upgrade the processor also. So hopefully by middle or end of the year. Anyways its not a full $300, I plan on selling my 1.8 to help fund the upgrade so I hope to get at least 150 if the market is still good for it.

Have you taken the CPU out of your machine? I was thinking of putting some Arctic Silver if it might help but so far the notebook seems real good on cooling. -
The following link is a good guide by overdrive for swapping CPU:
