Couple of questions as a new proud owner,

    1) I got it with 128gb hard drive raid. In the future can i expand it?

    2) Sometimes my mouse when using the touchpad will freeze. It has happened to me twice and not that often admittedly. Windows/keybord was responsive just the mouse wouldn't move at all and had to reboot. What sort of problem is this?

    3) Is it possible to record audio directly from the audio card not through the microphone? If yes can please someone tell me? The soundcard doesnt give me "wave" or "what U hear" option in the sound panel like my desktop has.

Many thanks to all the great community here!

Not easily, no. Sony wants you to buy a new computer and not upgrade your current one. There are three options, however:

    - Buy a repair part with 192/256/384/512 GB, and replace your current drives with it. This will cost an arm and a leg. We're talking absolutely ridiculous prices.

    - Buy two off-the-shelf 1.8" drives, take them out of their casing, and mount them using a home-made bracket solution, again replacing your current drives. This also may not work with all 1.8" drives -- they have to be small enough once the casing has been removed.

    - Replace the DVD drive with an extra HD. There are 3rd market drive bay replacements that can hold an SSD.

I'm assuming these modifications will void the warranty? But in terms of upgrading, the machine should still be able to run fast well after the warranty expires.

Are there issues in terms of compatibility with the sony SSD hard drives vs a 3rd party drive?

Just uninstall your synaptics drivers, and install the multitouch ones from the Z11 FAQ thread. My riend just received his Z13 with this problem, and that cleared it up.

    Cheers.

Apart from the ones Sony use being proprietary, with different dimensions than off-the-shelf 1.8" drives, dual sided, and while using a standard connector, not the standard that everybody else uses?
No, other than that, 3rd party drives work fine, as long as you can get them fit, connected and powered.

I'm using the driver you referred to from Synaptics's site without any problems. They don't add a lot, just a couple of additional multitouch gestures, but they work fine. I'm considering going back to the Sony drivers because the Synaptics driver modifies the cursor when you activate a gesture and I find it a bit distracting.
