    Just cant get the Keyboard cable to stay in

    Anyone any tips on how to fit my new keyboard, its a Vaio VGN-AR11m and its the same as the old one i took out, i push the cable in and try and push the little plastic clamp down but it just wont stay in, its driving me mad, anyone got any tips before i go insane? Thanks

    Sounds like you don't have the cable seated all the way to the bottom of the connector BEFORE you push the clamp down. Make sure the cable bottoms out first.

    Thanks will give it another go but it seems to be in but then the clamp just wont go down, if i push one end down then the other end pops out. gggrrrr its driving me mad.

    tried again, cable goes in quite away and then no further but the clamp still wont go down.

    Any way for you to post a photo? Note:Make sure to use the macro focus setting on your camera if you attempt to do this. If the photo is out of focus it won't help much.

    OK, what did you do to fix it? Forum tradition is if you post a question and then fix it yourself you should also post the answer, so other folks who happen to find your thread via a search don't wind up empty handed.

    ok, well it makes me look stupid but i was trying to get the cable to go between the clamp and the socket, this seemed logical and it fit in ok just wouldnt clamp. i then tried it flat against the motherboard under the clip and of course this worked, silly of me i know.
