    HI everyone,

I just picked up my FE 2 hrs ago, and was trying to setup a network using the wireless lan. I've already got a desktop and notebook on the network. So I just went to the Network Setup wizard to add the new FE to the network.

However it doesn't seem to work. Are there any settings or features I have to enable first before setting up the network? Or am I doing this whole thing wrong?

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    hey~
    try this!

    on your FE.. go to

    control panel/
    network and internet connections/
    network connections/
wireless network connection (right click on it)/
    properties/
    click on install/
    protocol/
and install the third network protocol
    it's called NWLINK something

    and for your desktop
you should right click on whatever ethernet adapter that connects to the network and do the same

then try sharing a folder on the network
in case you don't know how to do this step,
    go to

any folder in your hard drive
    right click on a folder/
    properties/
    sharin tab/
    click on "if you understand...."/
check "share this folder on the network"/
check "allow network users to change my files" (if you only want this option)/
and then press ok or apply

then go to My network places on other computer to see if you can see that file....
if you don't see it... try if you can see other computer through "View workgroup computers" on leftside of your windows explorer

    umm.. if it doesn't work
this probably is not solution for your case
I'm no expert with network... probably can't answer any questions from you..
(like why it's happening and stuff :( )
just suggesting you something that worked for me and my friend :)

    good luck!!

Um, I'm not being rude, but did you check the wireless switch was moved? I had trouble at first because my old laptop's wireless on/off switch had a very definite 'click' sensation when it was turned on or off- plus a very bright orange light. I find with the VAIO I need to physically check it to make sure the little green light is definitely on.
