    Well,

I found a SZ330 at bestbuy and picked it up. After using the SZ220 (which somewhat disappointed me). At first boot , sony ofcourse has waaaay to much bloatware which i have to remove. I did a fresh install on my sz220 but dont feel like going through the nightmare on this, so i will just remove as needed.

FIRST PROBLEM: WiFi wouldnt connect. When i tried to turn on wifi via the software it aid the hardware button was off, when it was in fact not. After toying with it for a while what i did was, dl the latest drivers from intels site. FIRST uninstall the intel pro wireless program and remove the device with the wireless switch off, then reboot (i dont know if u need to). Windows will find the device but not the drivers, just click continue. Now install the new intel pro wireless drivers (while keeping wireless switch off). Reboot, (again i did, prolly not needed). Then turn wifi hardware switch on and the software. I was then able to see networks and use it.

I have not had a chance to really test out this system. My main thing is hoping i get no dead pixels. The machine does feel kind of slow for having 2gig ram and Core 2 Duo, but its probably all the crapware.

As far as design its the same look and feel are exactly the same as the SZ220 i had. Im upset they still have the silly edge antenna as i am sure it will fall off like the 220 did. Also where the 220 had the antenna the case starting cracking after only a week.

Thats all for now, hoping sony improved quality control this time.,

I am still on the fence between an SZ3XX premium and a Macbook Pro. Guess there is a chance of problems whichever way I go, but I like the sturdy feel and better GPU of the MBP, if only it would soon get a Merom...

I can feel a big diffrence in speed compared to the 230.They did overload with some bloat ware f,sure yet easy remove was done.when booting the power setting was at optamize-cpu adaptive.I canged it to proformance and it,s fast fast-----It rocks.one can hope sony will sell us a hing pin for that antenna hole.there no need for that ugly peace of plastic on a 2150.00 notebook

macbook pro hmmmmm you would be wasting your money on a shabby design.CONS--Apple/mac sticking the air vent up blowing intecnce heat up the lcd inturn drying out you eyes when using is a bad deal. They should of called it the macbook oven....
PROS of the macbook pro--You can put a bag of microwave popcorn at air vent located at base of screen and enjoy a movie

The Macbook is a very sturdy, well-built, and well-designed machine.
Stop wailing on products and companies you've never actively used.

Sure, their commercials are revolting and shameless (and hideous),
but their products are selling well for a reason.

With all due respect with your 281 post you are very wrong on this subject. My girlfrind has been using apple/ mac for 4 years so I know the deal. She,s got duck tape on her macbook not wanting to upgrade to the new design.Nuntiuslumis you really need to do some research on what apple is pulling on the customers.Do a search......macbook pro customer reviews then go to compusa and use one for a couple hours. It gets so hot the casing melts with the blow dryer venting in front of the screen.I feel really bad for the mac faithfull.they got riped and know it

Well, one isolated bad experience spanning over a period of four years does not necessarily condemn an entire new line of products to shame and ostracism.

I'm not saying the Macbook doesn't have faults, it vibrates madly, constantly, and the heat is a rather serious issue. Depending on how one uses it, the battery life may be very short. The screen is no way as good as the SZ's. It's a bit too heavy for my taste. It takes several minutes to load Windows operating system, thus limiting more impatient users to OSX.

But, it's very, very much worth what it costs.

no no my girl loves her mac book---It,s one tuff notebook yet scared to dump her money into there new product line.Your faults with macbook do hold truth yet apple/mac is not steping up like the company there known for.they have kicked it to the curve not taking responsibility with very unhappy customers. When it comes to well wourth the cost i guess it depends on what one expects out of a 2000.00 notebook.apple has fell fare short of my respect at this present time.

That extra 350.00 for the Carbon Fiber casing makes it premium. The notebook is a little lighter thats all.

I agree that the led display is very pretty on the premium yet very weak. When opening screen the ripple effect is present along The top part of frame that milks the led and that not premium.A very poor design was at hand and we will see the effect in the coming year with many complaints of screen failure.I wish Sony would have fixed this issue yet spared us.I went with the sz330 for that resion.A little thicker with a bit slower refresh rate yet well wourth a much more stable screen.

What nonsense is this? you're wrong dude. the screens not weak and theres no ripple effect when opening the screen or even when pressing behind the screen. you havent spent much time with a premium to make these claims. i dont get what you mean by the top frame milking the led. there's just a camera at the top frame. lastly both regular and premium screens have the same 60hz refresh rate.

Please check your SZ330's NVIDIA GeForceGo 7400 to see if there is any differences compared to the SZ230's NVIDIA GeForceGo 7400?
    Thanks

This is very simple for anyone to do that is reading the thread.Go to your local compusa/bestbuy.open and close the screen at the top were the camera is and you will notice a cheap like flex in the frame around the screen on the top area.when opening and closing depending on how far you put you fingers at times there is major milking of the screen.
Mosnimer I came so close to buying the so called premium and wanted it bad because ok it the premium.Having one of the notebook tecks of 10yr at compusa give me the heads up showing me a coupel of the screens that had failed on the sz260 was The real deal.Im very sorry you feel im misleading anyone for there is no need for such nonsence just giving facts
    Good luck

I have no major problems with my Premium SZ2VP screen - no rippling from the top (although if you press in the wrong places on the sides it can cause slight rippling) - but what do you expect from a 5mm thick screen!

The screen quality and viewing angles are fantastic IMHO

Thats my point and thanks for confirming.when you do press on the wrong sides of the screen you do get that effect. The teck did a demo for me of a 260 screen that a customer had in for service-screen replacement .when opening showing me the preasue point being the top center of screen frame---were we put are fingers to open the screen . after a few months of use the edges of the screen frame become weaker inturn screen fracture cracks become present. sonys design of the 5mm screen frame is very shallow when it come to strength. The questions????? was compusa trying to upsell me on screen protction.........Yes they were. How were they trying to upsell me screen protection??? Showing me a sz260 they were working on also showing me three broken sz260 screen he had to replace in the past.I inturn skiped a design flaw in went with the 230 then upgrading to the 330 with more screen frame thickness and let us not forget a little slower refresh rate.
Just because sony says it the premium$$$$$$$$ does not mean it,s bult premium.A pretty led with a weak frame work is the end result

    Sony1,

Ive owned a premiun SZ160, and about to get a SZ360. There are FEW laptops that don't show the rippling effect when you press them in certain places. Ive had the issue with many laptops including the DV2000t by HP I currently have which is being returned fo toher reasons. The HP is over 2 pounds heaver with a much more solid frame, but I can make the screen ripple by grabbing it in certain areas. but thats also no to say the ripple stays there... it goes away, as it does on the Sony I assume. Maybe I'm biased but the think the light weigh, and better screen, and even the coloring of the SZ premium is worth the extra $300+.

    To each their own!

    hi,

I want to buy a sz sony, but I can't decide between sz330 and sz370, they are the same, only the sz370 is premium. differences are the lcd and their weight and of course the price.

Can any one help me which one is better?

mohamad398 they both are outstanding notebooks.I myself went with the sz330 for a few resions listed in this thread.Best bet,GO to compusa and take a look at them side by side .I do like the carbon fiber casing on the 370 which inturn makes the notebook a little lighter yet the screen lacks strength for my needs-ADVICE-If you go with the sz370 get screen protection.Ive seen 4 of the sz260 with the thin screen repleaced becase of frame weakness
    enjoy

hey, is it worth it getting the sz390? whats the difference between it and the other models? Also, despite all the stuff that comes with it when you first boot up, is this computer actually slow? Is it worth buying the 2.33ghz core 2 duo?

    thanks
