I finally got my SZ18 from Hong Kong![]()
It's certainly a very beautiful machine but it does feel very flimsy compared to my previous T42. The screen is extremely beautiful and the machine is extremely portable! I haven't have any time to try the machine's performance. All I've done so far is burning the recovery dvd. (is it only 1 DVD in total?)
My machine came with a 3-prong power plug and thus far, I have noticed no electric shock at all! YAY!
Anyways, I am just wondering if someone can kindly give me a checklist of what I should do/remove to help "break-in" my new laptop?
Thank you very much in advance!

My SZ120P created 2 DVD's

Congrats on your SZ18.
I have the same model - I'm in Malaysia and it's the same in all the Asia-Pacific region IIANM.
And yes, it makes only one recovery DVD. I've since unpartitioned my harddisk to create a single partition and recovered the Sony apps back to it. I don't have a problem with sony bloatware just yet so have not tried the clean-install route...
I have however bumped up the RAM to 2 gigs.... -
That's reassuing to know that my machine is not making less recovery discs than normal
Do you notice great differences in performance after popping in two gig of rams?
-
Hard to tell actually as I swapped out the RAM when purchasing my SZ. I must say however I've just installed Battle For Middle Earth II and I'm quite impressed with the gaming/graphics capability of this little beast.
Just got my Sony SZ18!!
