Hi, i upgraded an old Z41WD with a brand new Z11X. The new Notebook arrived today and i was absolutely shocked when I switched it on: the fan makes a terrible higher pitched sound. Its even more annoying then the Z41WD-Fan. Is my fan broken or does all Z11X-Fans sounds like this?

    Thanks

I got some good advice about that once. Such small mechanical vibrations tend to either get worse until it breaks, or settle down. Let it spin for a few hours, perhaps days, and see which way it goes.

    Mine got better. :)

pretty sure that's normal. I'm experiencing the exact same high pitched whine on my current VPCZ112GDS. I usually do not hear it if there is some ambient sound but it becomes almost unbearable when i'm using it in a quiet room. My z1190 cto is coming tomorrow so i'll compare the two of them, hopefully this high pitched whine only affects certain units...

Not normal. My Z112 fan is nearly dead silent. If I game or stress it it will get a tad noisy but not a high pitched whine by any means.

^I hope that this is the case cause the fan noise is the only gripe I have with this laptop.
