    It's a Sony VGN-NR498E.

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo T5750 2.0 Ghz
    HD: 250 GB
    RAM: 3.0 GB
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium (which I will change to Windows 7)
    Screen: 15.4"
    Case: Textured silver

Found it at a pawn shop. Had it since yesterday. So far, no problems.

Anyone have this laptop? What do you think of it? Thanks.

Seems like a fair price -- cheaper than buying a second-hand machine directly from the original owner, because you don't get any remaining warranty, and have no former owner to go back to to get missing media or device history.

Yes, always wipe a machine clean if you get it from a place like a pawn shop. Else you will be liable if there's child pornography or worse hidden somewhere on the machine.

FYI, on eBay, the current bid usually has quite little to do with the final selling price.

So far, my VAIO has been a pleasure to use. It's quiet - no HD or fan noises. Relatively cool, too. Internet wifi connectivity has been trouble-free. Speed - pretty good, I hope it will be better with Windows 7 install.

My first Sony has been a good experience. I owned Dell and HP laptops in the past. Although I didn't have any trouble with those, the Sony proves to be another solid laptop.
