Yeah, I went ahead with it. Just wanted to have the newest thing :) And because I had a big fat insurance check eyeing me because my S260 was stolen in Feb. Thank goodness I had renters insurance!

So, I configed it this way

    -1.86ghz M
    -80 Gig hdd
    -Wireless but no bluetooth
    -512mb ram

More than I had in my old S260. And I go that 3 year onsite plan from Sony.

I will post back when I get it on what I think of it.

Oh, I wanted to add this.

I REALLY wanted to get the internal DVD. However, I looked more closely at it. It only burns at 2.4X! Are you kidding me? That is slow! I am just gonna save my money for an external one later on.

So, I took that $150 and upped the processor speed :)

2.4x isn't that bad for an ultraportable laptop. Yes, you can find 8x in a desktop replacement, but that's a totally different story.

That is a good point. I didn't look at it that way. I guess for comparison the HP DV1000 burner works at 8X but it is a little bigger.

the S380 is a really tempting purchase, such a great form factor for a notebook (well, for those of us that like to be truly mobile at least!) and now with the performance boost of the Sonoma processor. When they say everything happes for a reason, the theft of the S260 might have been one of those times...although I'm sure the hassle involved and loss of faith in fellow humans might counterbalance that. Anyway, let us know what you think of the S380 when you get it!

Sweet $#^#$ I just read the fine specs on the S380 and sony quotes 1.5 - 3 hour battery life!

Where the S360 is quoted at 2.5 - 6 hours.

I think I am going to try and cancel my order.
