After much careful investigating and drooling over this laptop I decided to buy it!

I ordered from conics with the specs of black, 1.2ghz, 1gb, 160gb hd model, I figured I can just use an external dvd drive and just buy a ssd drive later when prices go down and add it in myself. and I was wondering if anyone else have ordered from them and what their experience is like from them? Also it saids 1-2 weeks to arrive.. has anyone ordered recently around end of july and received it in say 6 days or so?

And one last thing is I'd like to know how is this laptop as a ultraportable?? Is it really that tiny? I'm expecting it to be very small and i'm coming from a 15" mbp. How does size fair against a 13" macbook? Is it way way smaller or its just a tad small. I'd like to have it so small just tucked in my backpack to just pull out during use in class and just carrying it around campus all day.

Have a read of this review: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=2090026

I believe my notebook would have been ordered from Conics about a day or two ago, so we can have a race. They will probably take 2 weeks to make, due to recent promotions and a back log of orders.

The TZ would have a smaller footprint, having a smaller 11.1" screen. For details on portability, have a look at this: http://www.jp.sonystyle.com/Style-a/Special/T/Drive_sim/index.html

The top 6 are configurations for the HDD/DVD combinations, the middle 3 are for the different batteries, and the bottom two are for the Oneseg tuner (which is not usable outside of Japan).

The 13.3" MB is just over an inch thick and 5.1 pounds (2.4 kg). The TZ is 0.9" thick, but, depending on battery selection, will be raised up to 1.7" at the rear of the notebook.

I personally opted for the SSD+DVD and the large capacity battery, so mine will be 2.9 pounds (1.3 kg) and raised up 1.7" at the back. The larger battery may have added roughly 0.6 pounds over the smallest battery, but I will be getting more than double the battery life and I wont have the need for a riser.

no matter how small you think its going to be, you just can't prepare for the tiny size of it. I came from a 15" Thinkpad which isn't big, but its like David and Goliath between the two. I was just utterly amazed at the size of the thing considering how much hardware is packed into it. If someone would've shown me 5 years ago, I would've said thats just science fiction.

You want science fiction? Try using a U70 about 3 or 4 years ago. Now that got some sideways looks when people realized that was a full-fledged PC.

What's scary is that the new line of ULV chips are more powerful than people think. Are they as fast as their full fledged bretheren? No, but I know my Core Solo 1.33 on the G1 handles everything my SZ does; some lag, but it's more the lack of another core than anything else.

That's the real advance in the ultraportables. The performance gap is not as big as it used to be IMO

The 1.2 is out in the USA in the TZ190/191.

YOu could also order one of the import ones with the 1.2 and a lesser spec.
