Just ordered a FZ4000 from SonyStyle. Sure hope it ships soon. I love the Sony Xbrite HiColor LCD displays. I looked at several other notebooks but could not find one that had such a nice bright screen with a BlueRay writer. Just wish it was a little higher in resolution. Here is my configuration.

My config is around the same...but, I decided against a blu-ray player.

1.) The drive speed (and write speed) is way too slow to warrant purchase.
2.) When external blu-ray drives come out...it will be alot faster.
    3.) On a 15.4 inch screen...HD is pointless.
4.) External HD's are a much better solution imo than a backup blu-ray disc...and more cost efficient.

Not trying to be a negative nancy...I am going to preorder mine on Saturday...to talk with my rep at Sony so I can get my 400-300 dollar discount. But, honestly the drives for blu-ray on current laptops are just too slow. Save the money is my advice and wait for an external when drive speeds are better...or go and buy an iPod with the money you saved... :p

This is my second FZ. First had a bad keyboard and returned. It was a FZ290. I didn't get the bluray to play disks but to back up. I bought 4 25GB rewriteable disks and they work great. I was able to drag 20GB plus folders on it and work on other things.

still debating over a 5400rpm hd or 7200rpm hd...

nervous about heating, warping, and longevity issues...

plus..the blu-ray player I would have gotten but, the speed on it is not worth boasting about. I'll either wait for a faster blu-ray player/rw and swap the drive out or just purchase an external...
