I've been using my Kensington AC adapter on a road trip, and I've noticed that whenever I am charging with the Kensington power brick instead of my Sony, the fingerprint reader does not function. As soon as I unplug, the fingerprint reader returns to normal. Anyone else notice this behavior? I think it's because the VAIO does not recognize the power "profile" that the Kensington creates through the tip...

I haven't had that problem. Mine is currently set to the VAIO Maximum Battery profile, although I have made some changes to that profile. I don't know if I've seen anything that looks like it would effect the fingerprint reader in any way.

Is the Kensington adaptor the little light one? Apart from the problem you mention, do you have any difficulties with it?

The one I use is the 120W AC/DC adapter. It is not small, but it IS smaller than the OEM brick. I don't think I would use the 70W for this machine. Probably a little small for these duties. I haven't had any trouble with mine. The smart tips are a little bulky/awkward compared with the OEM form factor plug, but the versatility is really nice.

Mine is the 120W AC adapter. It's not the teeny-tiny one, that's the DC-only adapter (I WISH it was that small). It is a lot smaller and lighter than the OEM brick though, and prevents me from having to carry around a lot of other adapters (ipod, phone, etc). Aside from this abnormality, though, it's AWESOME.
