model # 33197, the thin auto-air-wall adapter.
I just got one, refurbished. According to their online configurator, it is supposed to work with my SZ-780, with their tip 27. That tip fits in my notebook.
I plugged it in, and its blue light went on. I plugged it into the notebook, with the tip 27, and Vista reported that the computer was running on batteries. There seemed to be no indication of AC power at all.
I went to the web site where I bought it, and filled out an RMA form, thinking the adapter was dead, despite the light.
But then I decided to try it on another notebook, my Fujitsu P7010D. I used the required tip for that, #15. (Same as on the 10.6" Sonys.) The Fujitsu worked with the adapter!
So, the adapter must not be totally dead. Why did it not work with the Sony, with the specified #27 tip, and did work with the Fujitsu?
Has anyone here got that adapter to work with a Sony SZ or similar size and voltage model?
Still wondering if mine might be defective, even if not thoroughly dead. The Fujitsu model requires less voltage (70)than the Sony SZ (90), although this adapter is supposed to work up to 120 volts. Perhaps the higher voltages are not working.
Or, could my tip 27 be defective? I think that would be quite unlikely, for a tip to be defective.
However, if no one has been able to get this adapter working with an SZ, despite the manufacturer's claim of compatibility, perhaps it wouldn't make sense to exchange it for another of the same model.
I would appreciate hearing other's experiences with that adapter, with Sony model SZ or similar.

I have an FZ290 and use tip N27 but have no idea if the SZ should be the same. I just tried the three SONY tips and the N27 was the one that worked. I have yet to try it on a plane.
