New here so I hope I am in the right place and sorry about the title it does not quite explain the issue so here goes: -

I have two accounts on this laptop (VAIO VGN-FW21E) my account - administrator is fine however the account for my wife has an issues with keystrokes in particular when she goes to enter an email address this happens - someone"gmail.com to obtain the @ she has to press the following combination uppercase and 2 which then gives the @.

Holding down the uppercase key and pressing the numeric keys in sequence results in this ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( )

I am sure she has hit a combination of keys which has changed the keyboard actions but for the likes of me I have no idea what and as I am not a 'keyboard wizard' can some kind individual out there HELP - PLEASE

I guess it is something so obvious that I will be embarrassed with the solution but when you get to 72 and are trying to learn about such matters any help is always welcome.

It is your keyboard that is different. Your wife's settings are the default US keyboard settings. If you tell us what happens when you hold down SHIFT and press the numeric keys, we could probably tell you which keyboard you are using.

In your account, open the control panel and open your language settings. Check to see which keyboard layout you are using. Now go to your wife's account and change the keyboard layout there from the default US to the same one that you are using.

EDIT: also check to see if either you or your wife have installed support for any other language which uses a different keyboard. You may be able to see this in the language toolbar in your system tray.
