My Fn-F5 and Fn-F6 keys don't work anymore. The volume control keyboard shortcuts work just fine as well as Scroll Lock and Mute.

As part of the normal optimizations I perform on all my new computers, I went through the system startup and disabled a lot of the VAIO multimedia services. Did I accidentally deactivate the service that monitors/controls the manipulation of the screen brightness via keyboard shortcuts?

    Here's what I'm working with:
    VGN-C140G/B
    Windows XP MCE

Does anyone know which specific service(s) need to be running to make the brightness shortcuts work?

    Solved the problem.

Went into Computer Management and found a service called "VAIO Event Service"

    Description:
Provides the hardware event managing service for VAIO. During termination of this service, some fuctions such as Special button ,Hotkey ,and VAIO original power management are limited.

This definitely needs to be running to have a fully functional VAIO.
