Hey guys.
I was leaning towards a dell, but now a sony. My dad really likes sony's look.
Anyway I was looking at the FE690 , the one with the 7600 go. If anyone has it, i was wondering,
1)How are the games on it..because I know its only 128 mb on board.
2), does sony have the same thing as dell's media direct, where you can play dvds or cds' without booting up the computer?
3) Does it come with cds to reinstall or is it the same with the sz, where you have to burn yourself a copy.
4) how do you like your sony FE690? I will basically be using it for some gaming, long paper reports (thats why i want 15.4 inch), surfing the net, photos, music and such.
Thanks

1) I've had no problems playing anything, but then I tend to play older games rather than newer ones.
2) The FE does not.
3) It has the same as the SZ where you have to burn the recovery disks yourself. Easy enough, DVDR's are cheap now, and just do it first thing!
4) The FE will work perfect for that and be upgrade ready for VISTA come next year. -
i can play bf2, at medium settings, 1024x968 or watever, and its only the 7400

Doesn't sony have a core duo + dedicated graphs 15.4widescreen black keyboard notebook???
i really like fe series but i do think the white will turn into yellow along the regular use... and that would be annoying...

why would it turn to yellow?
I wish there are some reviews for the FE690. -
Does anyone know if the FE large capacity battery (the bigger one, not one that comes with the regular setup) sticks out of the back like the VAIO AR one in this picture? https://home.comcast.net/~andyslin/laptop/AR/DSC_0185.JPG

more reviews for the fe690 would be great, anyone here who owns one?
-
all large capacity batteries will stick out

How do you burn your own copy of the recovery stuff on a DVD to use after a fresh install?
-
When you start up the notebook, you go into the VAIO utilities that come with the machine, and click the "Restore Notebook" part. It'll then give you the option to burn the recovery disks onto either CDR's or DVD's. -
theres some keyboard flex on the left side, on the FE and FS models.
-
How come that the Fe690 is not available in Australia and in Europe?? Specially in Sweden
-
in Australia, the model numbers are completely different. The FE690 equivalent would be the FE28...

Sony Style Europe doesn't have configurable notebooks unlike the American site, in other a words a FE690 bought on the US site can have unique specs to a European bought FE
Kinda looking at the FE690
