I have a SZ 340. I ordered it directly from Sonystyle. It's been about 2 months of heavy use.

There are about 3 fading spots in the first quadrant area of my screen. The spots The spots perfectly form an isoceles right triangle. The spots themselves are roundish uniform in shape, about a quarter of an inch in diameter. There is a 3rd spot that is about the same size in the shape of a rectangle. There is now a 4th spot around the middle of my screen.

I've only had it for 2 months!
How do I go about returning it to Sony so that I can get a new one?

When I'm using the laptop normally, I don't notice these discolored spots. It's only when I have it all in one color that I'll notice these "faded" spots. These aren't dead pixels or dead pixels spilled over.

I've used it for about 2 months only. I got it new from Sonystyle! I found out that if you apply pressure to the back of the screen, it would result in "smudged spots" that would return to normal after about 10 seconds. Another thing is that I've also packed this notebook very tightly in with my books. So This might have been a contributing factor.

How do I go about processing a return?

You're going to have to get in touch with Sony's customer support. If you really squeezed it in tight there is a chance that caused some damage. LCDs are very sensitive.

I'm curious... how can you blame Sony [by expecting an exchange] if what you suggested, sandwiching the notebook between your books, may have caused this? In any case, you should call Sony and/or Sony Support to see if they will *fix* it for you. Please update us and let us know if this is a manufacturer defect or from mishandlement.
