i just got my first laptop computer a month ago (AR series) and was wondering if a laptop cooler actually helps and/or if it's necessary. my computer is on all the time. overnight alot and when i'm not at home downloading stuff. it could easily be on for days at a time.

i saw THIS deal. i guess i can't go wrong for it being only $10 after rebate.

    thanks!

Of course you cant go wrong with just 10 bucks. I don't leave my vaio on all night or day but I'm still going to buy a notebook cooler. I just don't like that warm feeling on my palm when I'm typing.

I tend not to turn off my laptop and I've found that I only need the laptop cooler when I'm gaming or doing lots of stuff on the laptop. I unplug the laptop cooler at night or during the day when I'm off to work.

I have OFTEN left my N5010 running 3 days at a time w/ CPU pegged while running finite element models. All good here. Put the 10 bucks towards a 3 year warranty if you are worried about cumulative heating/cooling effects on your notebook.

Can't go wrong with a laptop cooler, although honestly you probably don't need one.

I have an SZ150 and leave mine on 24/7... only occasionally reboot it once a week or so. I do have a laptop cooler, but I don't actually have the cooler fans on. Only use the cooler to elevate the laptop for more clearance so the laptop's fan has an easier time to breath.

Although to note, if I do turn the fans on it knocks off about 3-4C from the CPU temp.
