earlier this year my vaio died on me (T-series model - more specifically a T37GP).

i took it to someone in hopes of having my data transferred onto an external hdd. but was told that because the hard drive of laptop was "unique to Sony" (not sure what this means, didn't probe either..) that it wouldn't be possible to transfer the data to an external hdd and that a laptop adaptor would be required.

i did a search here (can't find the thread now) and found a thread about someone's sony laptop having a 1.8" hard drive. i'm guessing the hard drive of mine could have been a 1.8" too so it could be lightweight/compact? (fyi, my vaio was 1.38kg and 10.6 inches..) and according to this link seems so http://www.impactcomputers.com/a-1104-118-a.html#

any idea where i can get such a laptop adaptor so i can transfer my files ??? i rang up sony and they were clueless about this.

    cheers
