Guys, I have a Vaio Fit 15 laptop and while charging it says 'plugged in, charging' but stays at 0%. The thing is my synaptics enhancements were not working so I was trying to install and uninstall those drivers. But without luck, I couldn't solve the problem and did like 30+ restarts of my laptop while uninstalling and installing the drivers. Then the electricity at my home was gone, so I couldn't charge my laptop and I kept messing with the drivers till the battery died fully. After that when electricity came, I plugged my laptop, but now it is not charging. It says 'plugged in, charging' but stays at 0% forever and if I remove the power supply, instantly shuts off like a desktop computer. One thing to mention, I wasn't using the 'battery care' function of Vaio previously but I turned it on in the morning before this problem occurred. In the noon it was saying 'battery is degrading, but usable right now'. And now it is saying 'battery is critical and you may want to change your battery'. I really can't get why this happened, because of the so many frequent restarts or because I let the battery die?? My laptop is just 7-8 months old. Is my battery really gone??

can you check the tension on the battery? by this way you can check if the battery has the problem.

Hardware; multimeter. But if you don't have one; remove the battery and check its physical condition for deformation and the connectors (and those on the laptop) for corrosion or other defects. Sometimes there's also a led indicator on the battery itself that might give a clue.

It is a bit strange that using a 'battery care function' seems to cause it to disable battery charge altogether (it should limit charge to a certain percentage of full capacity). Have you checked its settings?

The intended purpose is a good one, though; Charging Lithium-ion Batteries.
Since you've opted for the care function only after using the laptop for a while, there's also the matter of calibration. What the battery itself claims to be its full capacity may no longer be accurate and, therefore, neither will its reported current charge.

But it doesn't charge at all. Stays 0% forever and if I unplugged the charger, it will shut off instantly. That means battery ain't holding the charge. My laptop has become just like a desktop. Plug in, use, in case plugged out, gets switched off. And battery doesn't have any signs of corrosion. It happened only after I let it discharge fully, maybe it damaged the battery.

Right, seems like it has irredeemably failed then, it happens (although they tend to ' bulge' beforehand ...). If you still have warranty; request a replacement. Otherwise, the cheapest is ~$60. That's not a bad price (and it doesn't appear you have different capacities to choose from, either).

You can either peel it open (for Fun & Education) or toss it as it is with the garbage if you want; it contains 3 650 mA Lithium-Polymer batteries, perfectly harmless (environmentally, that is):

Excepting Europe, apparently, where lithium and plastics are a hazard to the 850°C incinerators  ?

    Hello,
Does anyone have the fix for battery "plugged in, not charging" problem. I have a sony SVS151190X. The battery light kept blinking fast. I have tried several methods posted on the internet without success.
    1. Plugged in a known good battery ==> does not help.
    2. Took off battery, unplug cord, press an hold start button for 1 min, and left the laptop overnight, then reinstatll the battery ==> does not help
    3. press the RAM for 30 seconds ==> does not help
    4. remove the Microsoft ACPI driver and reinstall ==> does not help
    5. press the battery reset button on the back of the laptop ==> does not help
    6. IBS utility turned off ==> does not help.
    7. Factory restore windows 7 and software ==> does not help.
    8. Clean install either windows 7 or windows 8 ==> does not help.
    9. Tried BIOS either EFI or legacy ==> does not help.
10 Disabled TPM ==> does not help

Have you looked to see if there is a bios update for the laptop? If not, maybe re-flashing the current one will fix the problem. Just be careful you do not do this when there is a chance of your power going out! ;p).

You've certainly done your homework, that's an impressive list :) .

Took a look at the service manual, apparently there's a 'battery off' button on the bottom of the laptop?

    Also, the charge indicator lights:

    battery led indicator.png

And battery reset option (for white_Shadoww):

One other thing; if a battery swap didn't help, try to change the charger as well (since you have a second system available anyway).

Tried Battery reset option ==> does not help (I found pressing the battery reset button is equvalent to uninstall the microsoft ACPI battery driver)
BIOS is the latest R0413C5 ==> does not help
Changed power charger ==> does not help
    Charger indicator ==> blinking fast

It seems to me that the charging circuit on the motherbard is bad. Either it has failed completely or the connection from the motherboard to the battery has a short. Try to clean this area with rubbing alcohol, or replace the charging circuitry.

" Blinks fast in orange"; " failed battery pack" and " an unlocked battery pack".

Now, it'd be quite silly, but ... what if it refuses to charge because the 'clip/click' thingy is not snapping back in place ("unlocked"). Say, because of a poor, dusty and/or weakened spring. Apparently Sony thinks that should disable charging since it deems "unlocked battery pack" equivalent to "failed battery pack" ...

Yeah, after so many tries, I can only think it is caused by either the BIOS setting or the hardware issue.
