Nice review but how are they recording temperatures exceeding 100 degrees. Wouldn't it melt?

It's Fahrenheit degree, not celsius. (with 90-100 degree between G and H keys, it wouldn't be possible to type anything on the keyboard...)

Fahrenheit? They probably should have mentioned that they intended to use an archaic measurement system at the beginning of the article ;)

It's not archaic, it is current in some countries.

I found it interesting to compare this review with the review they did of the VPCZ114GX/S ( Sony VAIO Z Review - A Review of the Sony VAIO Z in march of this year. It is almost exactly the same computer only the old version had the 520m processor and the new version has the 460m.

In the tests the older version got 9936 in PCmark and 6203 in 3DMark06. The newer version only gets 9475 in PCMark and 6047 in 3DMark06. The new version also had a little worse battery time.

Despite this they gave the old version 4 stars and the new version 4,5 stars. I don't get it. Can someone explain why?

the stars are weird but I'm guessing it's because the 520m has a higher turbo clock speed than the 460m. The battery life difference I'm sure was just a typical testing variance.

Considering they have the starting price at $1969, which is about $300 less than every other source is placing the Z13 starting price at, they reviewed a unit with a 128 GB SSD (Sony Canada site has the smallest SSD option at 256 for the Z13), and they actually say that portions of that review were taken from the earlier spring review, I wouldn't put much weight on this particular review.

    I've seen Z13's for as low as $1699 (i5/128/1600x900/4GB)

Care to share where? I had a Sony rep tell me that the smallest SSD available in the US Z13 is the 256, which bumps the price to $2300. I'd be glad to hear that he was wrong.

is the CPU upgrade the only difference between Z12 and Z13?

If I did find 15 days ago a Z12 with the spec I was looking for, I would have bought it without any doubt. Now I'm waiting a Z13 !

The Z13 is also TPM v1.2 compliant. Which is the main reason I am holding out for it. Supposedly it runs cooler too.
