Hi everyone,
I've seen someone post how to edit the lightup keyboard sensitivity but after searching, I can't find it.
Can someone help me find it or show me how to edit it?

this already posted by beaups before

I finally just gave up on my F's backlighting and disabled it. It is on when it shouldn't be and isn't on when it is too dark to see - light from the screen affects it too much.
-
This is probably my biggest complaint about the Z as well. The backlighting feels really inconsistent.
-
I posted a thread on how to adjust the sensitivity in the registry. Search for it.

If you can't get the sensitivity adjusted the way you want, you can always do what I did and put a little piece of electrical tape (or whatever else you want to use) over the sensor. You can then use Vaio Control Center to turn off the backlight if you ever don't want it coming on.
-
this way you will make you vaio "ugly"
-
no, a very small well-cut piece of black electrical tape on my black vaio is something I never even see. no one said you have to do it. but it's been a great solution for several of us.
-
so you are suggesting to use semi transparent black tape and higher the responsiveness?
-
you can use any tape that blocks the light sufficiently. I personally use non-transparent tape which has the effect of making the laptop think it is always dark and which stops the screen light from hitting the sensor. so my backlight will then behave at all times according to my vaio control settings. if I ever want to stop the light from coming on I just disable it in VCC. this works great my purposes. you could certainly try a semi-transparent tape that would increase the liklihood of the light coming on in dark conditions but may let it not be activated in very light conditions.
-
Another alternative is to use Windows XP, because there are no drivers for the light sensor and therefore you have manual control over the backlight (always off, always on, auto-off after 10, 30, 60 seconds). ;D

Yes i've been there but like i said i couldnt find it while i was searching and i searched quite a bit. sorry.
-
That would be a pretty drastic backward step to take just to control a light sensor.
-
I didn't say you have to use it either. Just pointing it out for information. I'm happily using XP on Z and I can't be the only person in the world. Or maybe I am. ;D

I have a Sony Vaio VPCF126FM And I was having the same annoyance. The keyboard backlight wouldn't come on when it was (in my opinion) dark enough that it should have come on. I also felt that the lighting from the monitor was effecting it somewhat also. My solution was to take a small piece of transparent scotch tape, placed it over the light sensor and then took a permanant ink marker and started coloring a small amount of the tape covering the sensor, thereby blocking out some of the ambient light. I did this until the backlit keyboard activated. This allows enough light through so that the backlight will turn off if the ambient light in the room is bright enough, and it will turn on if the room is dark enough. I've been using my Vaio this way for a few months now, and it seems to work great.
Hope my 2 cents helps someone. If you found this helpful, please send me an email through my website by clicking here: Eclypse Web Designs
