The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    I finally have the internal mic working.
    I added the line

    options snd-hda-intel model=toshiba-s06

    to the end of the file alsa-base.conf in /etc/modprobe.d

    You still have to go to Volume Control -> Options and choose Int DMic

    After that the audio settings in Skype were all messed up, but after that I could use the internal mic with Skype!

    I still have to read the details to disable the NVidia chip. Once I figured out an easy way, I'll post them back here.
