If I'm reading it correctly, the Cool Master (your first & second links) is 4.7 amps. The Sony adapter is 6.2 amps. So it may be underpowered. The third link doesn't even provide power in amperes, just watts, and I think that may be underpowered as well.

Ive never worked with the PMD bur NEVER get a brick with a lower amp/watt rating.they tend to:

a: just not work because they cant push the power
    b: overheat and trip out
c: cheap knockoffs can overheat NOT trip out and melt or burn up

She actually ;), but no worries

    90watts / 19Volts = 4.7 Amperes

    basic math

Whoops! Sorry about that. Even though you were gracious about my sexist comment, I shouldn't have said it.

Thank you for a much needed correction.

Let's set the record straight. The "math" part wasn't my problem. Knowing W/V=A was the problem :D

And to be corrected by a girl in electronic lingo and formulas.....

Anyways, thanks for the lesson.

90 watts is pushing it (low) on the Z PMD. Also, I'm not sure any of the universals will fit. The PMD connector is a little different to specifically keep you from using an adapter that wasn't designed for the PMD. I would just accept the adapter you have.

I think that Sony's use 19.6V in which case a 90w adapter only provides 4.6A

dont think too much on it I know im a rarity on these forums, just occasionally I like to give someone a hard time. ( female over 40 )

sorry I couldnt resist I married an electronics engineer
but keep the formula handy, its a good tidbit to know

if the OP can verify the barrel plug is the same as someones universal connector they can look for a 120W supply

Thanks to all for the advice; looking for the appropriate plug adapter would be a good first step.

Would there be any issues with a brick that generated an excess of Amps?

    w/v=a
I will try and commit this to memory!

^No issue with going higher, you can't go to high with watts or amps. Volts should match.

As an FYI, I found that (at least some) airplanes don't allow you to draw more than 70 watts out of their plugs.

So I tried a 70 watt charger on the Z2 and so far have had no particular issues. No noticeable electrical issues and no noticeable heating issues. The charger runs cool.

Note that this is only for the Z2 itself and not the PMD. I haven't had the need for, nor have I tried it on the PMD.

    YMMV.

If Sony could have got away with using the same AC adapter with the PMD as for the Z2, they would have done. There must have been a reason why they provided a separate more powerful AC adapter for the PMD. My guess is that while it may work fine generally, if you push the PMD to its limit, a 90W adapter would struggle.

The issue will arise under load to both the gpu and cpu (gaming). The battery will stop charging or the pmd will shut down or (worst case) you'll burn up the adapter. Out of curiosity, why not just use the (correct) big adapter?

I completely agree. This is a dangerous game being played with such an expensive computer. It could also shorten the life of the equipment if they're struggling for power. I wouldn't dare go this route with a $3K computer.

^If you are able to force the small adapter into the pmd you should be able to make a universal charger fit. Do yourself a favor and get a big universal or the correct big adapter from sony.
