this is what i do everytime

1.load up your windows 7 dvd, and boot from dvd.
2.then given the option to install and custom install, click on custom and then format.
3.follow the steps on the screen
4.when it is all finished, go to sony support, then go to to your SR model and windows 7 64bit and download the following:
    -shared library
    -utilities(plus updates)
    -firmware extension parser
    -hdd protection
    -touchpad driver
    -upek protector suite
    -memory stick media driver

    5. Install the things in the order i listed aboved, BUT don't install the utilities update until you finished with everything else and restarted. THEN you can start installing the updates.

6 after that you should be done, unless you also want the webcam software they have there.

good luck, if you have questions are encounter problems msg me, or post here, i will check back here to see if all things went well.
