Looks like these new fangled LED backlit screens are in short supply. I've tried two suppliers (ScreenTek and one here in the UK) and neither have them or could give me an ETA on them.

There's a HK supplier on Ebay (currently away) who claims to have them for $660, that's $235 more than Screetek, but I've had a report from another buyer that the screen he received was faulty. That scares me a bit.

I refuse to call Sony UK on principle. They charge you, get this, 70c a minute to ask questions, and want over $1,000 to fix it.

Another option would be to try picking up a spare through the Sony Service Centre in Tokyo, when I pass through in a few weeks, but I have no idea how to contact them. There's no email address and the reception is Japanese.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks,

    TT

this seems like a dumb question, but it's not covered under the manu warranty? and you don't have any extended warranties?

Ah yes, so it is. Unfortunately, they only ship to the USA.

I've been tipped that Nextro has one for $442.01 plus whatever it costs to ship from Japan.

No to both. My travel insurance doesn't cover it either, unfortunately. Although my notebook is supposedly covered for damage, the fine print reveals they don't pay if "and electronic component is broken." Bunch of arse.
