I'm looking to buy a Z series laptop. Great looking machine, I tried it out at a sony store, the price is pretty steep though.

However I am looking to maybe buying this from ebay or something. The z series from ebay generally run around $1500 for the base configuration z series with an i5 processor.

Do you guys think this is the best priced place to buy the z series or is there another place I can get one for a better price or deal?

(buying a used z series does not bother me as long as it is in good condition with no scratches)

Buying it on Ebay to save a couple hundred bucks really isn't worth it in my opinion, if you can get a good deal at the Sony outlet store then you should consider that as an alternative. All in all, though, having the warranty to fall back on will give you peace of mind.
