I read reviews regarding the earlier versions of the SZ laptops having issues with fan noise. Did Sony correct this problems on the newer Models? Lets say SZ400 and above...

I didn't know there were any issues with fan noise

I owned an sz650 and had no complaints about fan noise

Well, search SZ fan noise and you'll get about 50 thousands results. Good to hear that it's not an issue.

Ok, I guess I worded it incorrectly... A noise issue is a fan issue. haha.

There is no "noise" issue either.

There might be a few anal, OCD types who refuse to accept that a fan is necessary to properly cool the processor and said fan makes at bit of noise, other than that...

The SZ has a full-bore Core2Duo processor, not some handicapped low-voltage engine running at 8086 speeds.

Running the processor at full speed, particularly with dedicated graphics and you are going to be generating some significant heat - which means that the fan will be running for longer periods and at higher speeds - but that doesn't mean that anything is wrong - quite the opposite in fact.

If the fan noise bothers you then use the software to throttle down the processor and use only the integrated graphics.

My HP fans comes on somtimes but you can barely hear it. From what I read, the SZ fans are loud? But it looks like it only affects the older model. I'm purchasing the SZ7**

What size is your HP? The form factor of the SZ makes it more difficult to cool, it uses a smaller fan, and for that reason the fan must spin faster.
