I have a VPC-Z1290x. Whenever I plug the AC adapter in, it's very loose and it intermittently loses connection.

If I were to buy a DC harness, would I have to completely remove the motherboard in order to get to the connector?

    Has anyone ever done this?

I've had the same problem on my old TX1, but it's quite easy to fix. The hard part is of course to get to it. It's just a metal piece that needs to be bent a bit to press against the DC plug. Probably the same mechanics on the Z.

I haven't tried, but some good light into the hole and a small screw driver to bend the metal piece towards the middle might do the job as well.

I'm having the same problem after I accidentally bumped the laptop really hard - the power jack took most of the hit. Suggestions, anyone? I'm good with tools and soldering.

EDIT: I looked inside and I can see two pins. I read somewhere that that means the plastic cylinder that covers the pins has broken off.

I just added what I think is the part number to that thread (from the VPC-Z12 service manual)
