Hello,
I have a SZ120P that will not boot. Today the display was doing some weird thing and now it just wont boot at all. The power light comes on and the CD drive ramps up, but the system sits. The monitor stays dead as well!
I have to get my Real Estate files of ASAP. If you can help... Please add your thoughts to this tread. I did remove and replace the RAN at this point. I would even be willing to take the HD out and transfer the info if that is possible.
I had no problems with my T140p and expected that this unit would be solid. I hope this is not the start of bad things for this series.
Thanks so much in advance,
Anthony

get a USB 2.5" HD enclosure and install you hard drive in it. Then you can connect it to another computer as an external drive to access those files.

I just finished pulling out the HD. I did give it power before I pulling the HD and found that HD did not respond. It looks like its the board.. Will post Wednesday with results.
Fingers crossed,

Unlikely, but did you...by chance...install new RAM, and perhaps not seat it correctly? I did this once, causing a laptop to behave as you describe. My heart started pumping until it dawned on me that I didn't snap it in all the way. I know it is unlikely that you did this, but it's never surprising to discover a cause that is based in the most simple aspect which are easily overlooked.
Again...It's a long-shot, but you never know...

That is probably his probelm, that happened to me a couple of times, I even own my own large computer consulting firm, it's sometimes the user. Mine was having same problems, I popped out the memory and put it back in and bingo it booted up.

Hello,
Reseating the RAM whs the first thing I did. Thanks for the Ideas/Tips tho.
Anyways... the Lappy is FUBAR and needs to go back. The unit makes no audiable sounds, nor does the monitor react when it is fired up. The HD was fine when I plugged it into my home PC. I was able to get the info off and format it before I put it back.
Hope you guy get good ones. This is a big dissapointment! I guess I was the lucky buyer that got a glass of lemonade from Sony this time.
