Hi all
My sony crashed and died, it seems to be the mother board and since no one was able to fix it, I decided to buy another computer. But I want to recover the files of the "my safe" folder. Since the computer was absolute dead I took the HD out of it and hooked it to an adapter hoping to be able to recover the folder. I found the folder but it shows empty!! Is this some sort of protection? or could it be that the file are the files hidden in a diferent location?
Does anyone know how to recover them?
Please help!!
thanks in advance

Assuming you have not locked this down with some other encrypting software or something and no other passwords etc then... (plus not really sure what a "my safe" folder is). Try downloading and burning to an ISO - Puppy Linux, then reboot your computer. Very lite distro that boots into to your ram. Mount your portable drive (the one with the files your trying to recover). Should be able to view and in turn copy to the hard drive of your current computer (you booted from). Puppy Linux is designed as a OS and primarily a recovery capability. Very small and intuitive - many of the menus etc look much like windows. Have used several times to recover files of hard drives - works great.
