    Hi Folks,

This is *my* solution to the s1 s2, hdd protection, Fn + brightness not working after a clean install of vista on my sz680 CTO.

I followed the different threads in this forum (many thanks to the topic starters!), installing the drivers and utilities in the right (!?) order, but to no avail. I must have re-installed all those packages several times, but it didn't seem to help. Some gave errors after installing, some did not, but nothing showed up in my Vaio Control Center.

Getting ready to do, another, fresh install, I re-ran the Sony Notebook Utilities package and behold, now everything suddenly was accessible through the VCC, and the brightness key work beautifully.

Just my two cents, the notebook utilities package tied everything together that had been put in by me earlier. Don't give up!
