trying to decide betwen the two - really like the OSX but Win Vista not bad - the MB seems better for instant sleep and wake up compared to SZ - price not important -like portability and solidness and battery life -

Doing office +e-mail + internet+digital photos+/- movie films (short camcorder stuff up to 15 mins only holidays sports days family stuff) I know the graphics card is the BIG difference between the tow but does it mnatter for what I plan on doing with it ?
    Thanks in anticipation

I would advise you to wait for the sz refresh with the new santa rosa chipset. It is just around the corner.

Also take a look at the dell xps m1330.. incredible little machine

I've looked into this too. In my opinion the SZ is a premium laptop, while the Macbook isn't (unlike the macbook pro).

Some pros for the vaio SZ compared to the Macbook :

    - weight
    - size
    - graphics card
    - stamina mode
    - LED backlight
    - carbon fiber
    - fingerprint reader
    - docking station
    - HDD shock protection
    - Trusted platform module
    - Cardreader (SD,XD, etc.)
    - ExpressCard

I'm a SZ150 user for over a year (home) and I just recently got a new 15" MB pro (office). I can only agree with Cheek on his list of technical advantages of SZ compared to MB pro. MB pro is nice looking, great screen and feels solid, but I would never change it in favor of my SZ. The MB runs hot, and even 13" models are pretty heavy. If you're going to travel with a laptop then SZ 13" is probably the right balance between portability and productivity. Battery life on my 16 months old SZ is about the same, if not better, as on the new MB pro. You can't fully tilt the screen on MB pro as on other laptops which can be for tall people like me a little annoying. I also had to disable the ambient light sensor, which is probably the only thing the SZ doesn't have. It's located close to delete key and everytime I moved my hand to that area screen got dim, very annoying... The only thing I like on MB is the magnetic power cord attachment. And OS X ? I don't see any real world difference between XP in the basic tasks you want to do...
