I recently have a Toshiba Satelite L655D laptop and i have had maybe a little over a year now. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it but I really like colors and I cant make this laptop colorful or anything lol! So I was looking at buying a Macbook Pro or Air and then I came across the Sony Vaio laptops and I have heard both equally good and bad things on both and really cant decide which one I should go with! I am a college student right now and so I need one that has a really good battery life, I can download things on, and listen to music, and basically multi-task! Can anyone help with this decision of mine, I am sooo confused?!?!

I would look at the university's computer store to see what brands they support. In that way, if/when something goes wrong with your machine, you can pass it to them and they'll get it fixed. In other words, it reduces the amount of hassle you'll otherwise have to go through. The university store will typically also provide students various discounts.

Also, Mac versus PC may depend on the types of apps your major requires. If an application runs only on Macs, and you go for a PC, that may make your life harder.

Next, you can use laptop skins to change the look of your machine. If you like, you can have a different look every month :)

For really good battery life, I would actually suggest the Macs. But, that's just one of the factors that may matter to you... Sony's repair process doesn't seem to be the best. Weight of the machine may also matter.

Edit: If going for MBA, there's speculation that the refreshed version may be arriving within the next few days: http://www.techradar.com/news/computing/apple/apple-macbook-air-refresh-arriving-wednesday--965021?
