I currently own an FZ190 for a few months now and have recently been experiencing some annoying problems. I've ran a few searches and cannot seem to narrow it down to one specific thing. Here is a list of my problems:

-Windows Media Player keeps reporting "Media Changing" and not playing anything as it cycles to each song.

-I typically cannot select the network connection on the bottom right toolbar. It will freeze up and nothing happens nor comes up. The connection icon never updates, whether connected or disconnected

-Same with the battery options. These 2 functions work at random

-I looked at the device manager and under Portable Devices, Microsoft WPD Filesystem Volume Driver is reporting "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"

Internet still connects and I can run programs and all so I dunno what is going on.

These same problems happened to me earlier in the month, and when I reset using a restore point they seemed to vanish for a while. Now resetting has no such luck. Does anybody know what is going on or what I should do?

    Any help appreciated thank you.

What sort of portable device do you (or did you) have attached to the machine?

I do have a built in card reader, which I believe I tried using once, but that did not work too well either. I believe the card had been faulty so I am unable to tell if the card reader works properly or not.

Lets drop back a moment. Since you got the machine, what has been done to it? Any tweaks? Any driver or software updates? Anything uninstalled?

I've done all regular winows updates. I updated the Nvidea drivers right when I purchased the machine and everything ran smoothly up until a month ago. No viruses or spywre found.

Which antivirus/ firewall are you using? It may be possible that the firewall is blocking access.

was using AVG Free for virus protection and Adaware for spyware. I was on the phone with customer support for about an hour and we literally tried everything. It came down to what I thought was going to happen: my only choice is to do a full system restore. So when I get some free time I'm gonna buy some blank dvds and create a recovery disk set and then restore. They told me if this fails, which hopefully it shouldn't, I have to call in a repair order and what not. Can't wait..

thank you to all those who atleast thought about it and tried.

If the "recovery partition" is still in place, you don't need the recovery set to restore to the out of the box state. Either way you will loose ALL data and applications you have installed so back up your data FIRST and make note of the applications you have installed. To proceed without the recovery set just reboot and as the machine starts up hit the F10 key. This will bring up a menu to allow you to start the restore process.
