Hello, I bought a brand new vaio FZ140E two weeks ago. For the past few days, the mouse pad started acting up. The right click (to pull up option menus) won't work at all, when pressed NOTHING happens. The left click also strangely did the right button's job, it opened up right click menu. I tryed everything, even reinstalling the Alps pointing driver but to no avail. I had no choice but to completely restore the system. I ended up with the same problem, but now just the right click doesn't work. What should I do, should i take it back for an exchange? Anyone have the same issue? Please help, this computer is very important to me and i need some advice asap. Thanks.

If its important to you then call Sony and get it replaced. If you tried to reinstall the drivers and even did a restore and it still acts up then all signs point to hardware problem.

They'll replace it with a new one if I call them? Thanks for the advice by the way.

Ok this is really weird, when i turn on the computer the right click won't work at all and tapping or using the left click opens the option menu. When i connect an external usb mouse, the lef click and tapping works as it should but the right click still doesn't work, any ideas? I googled and found others with the same problems on their VAIO notebook. I'm trying to avoid bringing it to sony because they can be a pain.

I've had a really strange problem with an SZ340P with respect to the touchpad. Basically, the left mouse button appears to be stuck pressed down. It is now very sensitive to pressure and doesn't make a clicking sound when pressed. Initially that was the only problem, but a couple of weeks later, if you pressed to the left of the touch pad, almost to the far edge of the notebook, you would activate the left mouse button. Since I'm currently in Europe, I decided to simply deactivate the touch pad but will return it when I get back to the US next month.

It's terrible that this is happening now because i bought this computer 16 days ago and that means that i can't exchange it for a new one at COMPUSA, other than the touchpad everything's fine. But i need the touchpad because i don't want to be carrying around a mouse where ever i go, i mean it's a new notebook and everything should be working...i'm speaking with sony as i write this but i'm not sure what their approach will be.
