    Hi all,

These days I'm using a Vaio SZ3VP with the T7400 2.2Ghz Centrino Duo processor. Thing is, it runs a fair bit warmer than my old Vaio A series used to. With the A series, I could select Adaptive CPU Control from Vaio Power Management, and this would keep the processor running at 0.6Ghz (nice and cool) and only run at the full 1.6Ghz when it was required. However, the SZ doesn't seem to do this. According to Mobile Meter, it constantly runs at 2.2Ghz.

Is this the same for everybody else? Can the SZ not drop the CPU down to, say, 1.0Ghz unless the extra power is needed?

I've tried using Notebook Hardware Control and Speedswitch Control, but these utilities seem to have no affect on the SZ (even with Vaio Power Management disabled).

Any help or info on this is greatly appreciated!!

    Dave

try a program called RMClock. I find its better than NHC. Undervolt your laptop and then set it to dynamic switching. That should solve your problem. Google undervolting for more info there is a guide i used.

Cheers for that, but I tried RMClock as well. It seems to detect the CPU fine and all, and reports that it has throttled the CPU down to 1.0Ghz, but in fact it has not (still reports as 2.2Ghz in Mobile Meter, and temperature remains high). Tried a few different undervolting guides too, but with no effect. Mobile Meter still reports 2.2Ghz, and temperature still remains the same. Has me puzzled I can tell ya!
